Hello, my name is Irenie. I grew  up on the Isle of Lewis.

My siblings and I were brought up with lots of music and musical instruments in the house. The music that I always go back to is Scottish traditional even though I like a lot of different kinds. I’ve been told that when we were wee, my little bother and I couldn’t help bobbing to trad on the radio, even if we were grumpy…

I love soundtracks. That’s where I’ve come across most songs I know. I find that the visuals and audio enhance each other so much that I end up with surprising favourites.

When I began to play the guitar, I found it suited me – my fingers mostly did what they were told. Because I didn’t know many/any songs, I decided to write some. I first sang in public by myself, singing my own songs, in 2010. It was scary but surprisingly ok. Over time, the addition of a loop pedal (a.k.a. one’s own private choir) has become a core part of my set.

Since then I have played in and around the UK (and in Sweden, Belgium and Austria too!), supporting amazing artists, playing festivals and getting to be on the radio and TV – crazy!

Still alive and keeping on. See ya!

    1. Hi Carolee!
Sorry for my late reply. There are no plans for that this year I’m afraid!…
Hopefully our paths can still cross sometime, maybe at another time or place. I’ll keep my gigs updated on the website here.
All the best and God bless x

My wife and me saw you today in Edinburgh with your Joan Baez program. It was very fascinating how near your interpretation gets to Joan Baez. I think Joan would like it! We love Joan Baez and it was a very emotional reminiscence! Thank you for that!

    Hi Irenie,

My wife and I saw you at the Square and Compass in Devon a number of years back now. We thought you had a brilliant voice and great songs. Do you think you will be putting ‘Rascal’, ‘Mamma Says’, ‘River’ and ‘Blow Away’ on Spotify as well?

    Thank you and best wishes.

    1. Hi Simon,

Thank you for your message and kind words! Lovely to hear from you 🙂 I hope you’re both well.

I haven’t put any of my music on spotify – I am aware that some compilation material etc has been uploaded by other people but I’m not keen on the business model myself. If you don’t have those songs I’m more than happy to send them to you directly.

      All the very best,

    Hi Irenie!
    Hope you are well,
Louise Mairs here from Acousticnight@ the meetingplace, Rutherglen. We were wondering if you would like to do a wee 25 minute online pre recorded ‘gig’ at AcousticnightsONLINE. The way we are doing it is that it would be scheduled at 8pm on your date and the Meeting place audience all tune in and pay their ticket to your PayPal details. You can also have CD’s for sale. It’s been very popular thus far and we would like to help out musicians at this time of madness! If you are interested PM me or email me at l.mairs@outlook.com
